EXTERNAL CONTROL
Objective
External quality control is carried out on behalf of the Project Manager by a company independent of the contractor performing the works. It ensures that the diagnosis and the prescribed work recommendations defined prior to construction are properly followed.
What do we check?
As part of external quality control, and relying in part on our testing and inspection laboratories for quality tests, we verify:
- The quality of execution of the works (milling thickness, surface cleanliness, compaction, etc.), including in-situ pavement characteristics:
- Longitudinal evenness
- Skid resistance and macrotexture
- Retro-reflectivity of road markings (paint)
- The properties of the materials used, based on laboratory testing and inspection results
- The quality of execution of the works (milling thickness, surface cleanliness, compaction, etc.), including in-situ pavement characteristics:
TESTING AND INSPECTION LABORATORY
Objective
Thanks to our testing and inspection laboratories located across France, we are able to control and test the properties of infrastructure materials as well as study their behavior.
What tests can be performed?
Thanks to our laboratories, we are able to carry out testing and inspections on:
- asphalt mixtures
- bitumen
- emulsions
- aggregates
- concrete
- cement
- and soils
Links with our other services
Our testing and inspection laboratories support several of our other services, including:
- external quality control (testing of materials used, density control, etc.)
- independent/external control (material testing, density measurements, etc.)
- diagnostics (core sample analysis, binder recovery, aging tests on binders, etc.)
- CE marking certification (material testing in accordance with CE standards)
INTERNAL QUALITY CONTROL
Objective
Objective
When a contractor needs to carry out quality control on the sites where it operates, it can rely on an external company to perform internal quality control—this is referred to as external control.
We can provide our resources and teams to carry out external control for contractors, provided that our teams are not already involved on the same project under another assignment.
What do we check?
As part of external quality control, and relying in part on our testing and inspection laboratories for certain quality tests, we verify:
- The quality of execution of the works (milling thickness, surface cleanliness, compaction, etc.), including in-situ pavement characteristics:
- Longitudinal evenness
- Skid resistance and macrotexture
- Retro-reflectivity of road markings (paint)
- The properties of the materials used, based on testing and inspection laboratory analyses
- The quality of execution of the works (milling thickness, surface cleanliness, compaction, etc.), including in-situ pavement characteristics:
CE MARKING CERTIFICATION
Objective
Relying on our testing and inspection laboratories, we carry out regular annual monitoring of production for asphalt plants, quarries, etc., for materials subject to CE marking: bitumen, emulsions, cement, asphalt mixtures, and aggregates. The consistency of the results obtained (over a given period and a minimum number of tests) makes it possible to classify the quality of the various characteristics of the tested material, declare its properties, and, where applicable, apply CE marking.
We also support construction materials manufacturers in quality management: we assist them in drafting their quality manuals in compliance with CE marking requirements and support them in conducting their audits.
